“You have heard that it was said, ‘Do not commit adultery’. But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart.” Matt. 5:27-28
Let me first start by saying we should judge no one…we all fall short sometimes and my heart goes out to Christie for what she has had to go through, and I pray that God speaks to her heart to lead and guide her in any future steps she takes. My heart also goes out to her husband because when a person begins to use pornography, it becomes like a drug (sometimes more addictive then actual drugs) where you need a quick relief. The images you see tell your heart to seek fulfillment from another person (that actually doesn’t know you or love you). The bad news is that it can also lead you down a long destructive path of perversion, pedophilia, and homosexuality and rape….your children can also be tormented by any evil spirits that are tormenting you.
We are ALL affected by what we let our minds dwell on; it’s not just a man thing. Allowing ourselves to feed on pornography or dirty magazines/cyber sex, etc., disconnects us from our partners and true intimacy. It can last a lifetime as it teaches your mind to practice lust and live in a world of fantasy where you no longer can control your desire to seek gratification from sources other than your partner. Finally, it’s a shaming addiction (which is why people hide it) because it leaves you feeling ashamed and unclean.
The good news is that you can be empowered by the Spirit of God to overcome it by casting down every imagination and taking every thought captive. (2Corinthians 10:5)
